I love SAS!I originally joined with the goal of simply losing weight, and early on I’ll admit I felt discouraged—the scale wasn’t really changing, and I even considered stopping. It was frustrating to put in the work and not see the number move.

What made all the difference was my trainer, Jas. He supported me through that phase, kept checking in, reassured me, and continued making thoughtful adjustments to my plan. Even though the scale wasn’t changing much, he helped me focus on other indicators of progress. Over time, my clothes started fitting better, I was getting noticeably stronger, and I looked leaner in progress photos.

Without really intending to, I was recomping—and once Jas and I saw how well it was working, we decided to stick with the same approach. Over 6 months, I ultimately lost 10 lbs, dropped 4% body fat, and gained about 3 lbs of muscle.

The nutrition approach was based on counting macros, which taught me how to eat in a sustainable way—making healthy choices while still enjoying favorite foods, meals out, and drinks as long as they fit into my macros. Best Program for South Asians to lose Belly Fat

I joined the SAS program in December 2023, weighing 180 lbs at 6'4". For most of my life, I was what you’d call “skinny fat”—carrying extra weight around my belly but managing to hide it due to my height. I’d tried several programs over the years, but none had the depth or scientific grounding that Gurneet’s program offers. As a healthcare professional, I could see that this plan was well-founded, so I committed to it with confidence.

Transforming your body is no small feat, and my journey was no exception. At 63 years old, I’m likely older than many people pursuing similar goals, and balancing a busy career didn’t make it any easier. I knew I needed to lose weight before focusing on muscle gain, so I braced myself for the process. Along the way, I faced a lot of questions from family, friends, and even patients asking, “Doc, why are you losing weight? Are you okay?”

Fast forward 11 months, and I’m down to 154 lbs, with my belly fat nearly gone. I posted my before-and-after pictures to track my progress, and I can truly see the difference. Now, I’m excited to enter the next phase: enjoying more food while working to build muscle.

Incredibly effective and life changing

I am a 41yr old South Indian male who has been skinny and non athletic my whole life and was quite insecure about it. After hitting 30, I started becoming more active and tried a few things like working out regularly, trying yoga, kickboxing, CrossFit etc. I never seen a big change in my physique. I even hired an expensive coach who came up with a fitness plan for me to put on some muscle. I felt like the bulking was causing hormonal imbalance and I was seeing a protruding belly before I could see any muscularity. I also found out I was becoming pre diabetic from the diet change. That’s when I came across south Asian strong on Instagram and wanted to give it a try as it was quite affordable and the promotional video was intriguing. Phase 1 of the program was quite simple to follow. I didn’t make much change to my food habits as I was already on a low carb diet. I cut out my carbs and decreased fat intake. I did follow the workout regimen faithfully and put in my best effort. The change in my body was truly unbelievable. I started seeing abs within a few weeks . In a couple of months, for the first time in my life, I felt like my body had the potential to look like a masculine, muscular physique that I always desired but never thought was possible.

Then I moved on to phase two , which was a little more intense with the workouts. I could feel the fat in my body melting away and within weeks I had proper 6 pack abs and was quite vascular. I wasn’t ashamed to go shirtless in the beach anymore :) I am on phase 3 now and I cannot wait to update this review with my progress. The program is quite affordable, easy to follow and is extremely adaptable for those in different stages of fitness and lifestyles . I also felt like Gurneet is up to date with the latest workout techniques and fitness theories to fine tune his program so that your fitness journey is efficient and sustainable. Lastly, the WhatsApp group is a great support system for any types of fitness queries, recipes and a motivational support system. All in all, this program has been truly life changing for me and I cannot recommend it enough to all my fellow south Asians and those suffering from the skinny fat syndrome.

Often, we come across personal training programs, whether online or offline, where the primary goal of the trainers seems to be simply extracting money from their clients, without fully revealing the path to transformation or sharing the key components necessary for success. Unfortunately, I too became a victim of such programs. However, after several months, I realized this and eventually discovered SAS through Instagram. Trusting them was the best decision I made, and over the course of 6-7 months, I successfully lost 28 pounds.

I opted for personal training, where a dedicated coach is assigned to track your progress closely. The coach regularly checks in to see how you're feeling and adjusts the workouts or meal plans accordingly. You’ll gain a completely new perspective on nutrition, food, and calories, and once you develop the habit of conscious consumption, you’ll never go back to your old eating habits.

Lost fat

I was having issues making consistent gains in the gym and had a skinny-fat physique. This program helped me slim down and now I am ready to build muscle.
It means a lot for me to solve this issue as it was bugging me for years and I felt that the usual advice I got from the internet wasn't working for my body. Streamlined Workouts and Calorie Tracking: A Game-Changer for Consistency and Results

What stands out to me the most is the streamlined approach - just three main workouts a week, plus HIIT, allows for flexibility if a day is missed. This structure has kept me consistent for the past four months. The workouts are also pleasantly brief, making it easier to commit.

Tracking calories was never a priority for me until now, and it's been a revelation. Seeing the numbers on paper gives a clear picture of my intake, highlighting areas where I may have been overindulging without realizing it.

Having completed phase 1, I've already noticed positive changes in my physique. Our active lifestyle prior to the program definitely gave me a head start, but the program's structure and guidance have been instrumental in achieving tangible results.

Have also been focused on my health, but now really trying to take it to the next level this past year. The program based on what works for South Asian has been quite helpful - at almost 45 y/o, I am at the peak level in my fitness journey, matching or beating what I did in my 20s. What I like:

Lost fat

Being South Asian I always had skinny arms and legs but carried significant amount of fat in my abdominal area and still do, didn't know whether to bulk or cut, tried bulking, wasn't satisfied with the results, tried cutting wasn't satisfied because I did not know where I was going wrong. Then I stumbled upon South Asian Strong YouTube channel.

Everyone wants a body which they can flaunt even while shirtless so do I one month into the program I lost 3kgs, lost some fat and increased some lifts too! Coach Gurneet's guidance is really helpful, the diet plan is really easy to follow I can still eat all South Asian foods I want to eat,the workout schedule is very flexible and easy to follow. Currently in phase 1 fatloss and hoping everything goes well from here too excited for what's to come.

Would recommend this program to any South Asian who's struggling with their skinny fat physique,like me, having tried bulking cutting and so many other programs and still not getting satisfactory results nothing fancy in the program everything is really simple which any person no matter how busy schedule,can easily follow. Lost fat, gained muscle, still enjoyed S Asian food..need I say more?

I stumbled upon SAS utterly hopeless with chronic injuries picked up in previous cricket seasons. Now overweight following inactivity and poor eating habits, I needed something special and I found it!

Since starting the programme I have lost a total of 15.5 kilos, gained a lot of strength (I was DB pressing 10kg when I started, now 24kg) despite being at my absolute lightest (68.5kg)…and I’m still not done!

Throughout this time period, I was still able to continue eating my favourite South Asian foods e.g. masala omelettes and chicken karahis which was amazing. The meal plans are brilliant and adaptable, everything is easy to follow and you become very cognisant of what quality nutrition / training looks like. This entire set up has been life changing for me, I especially love the simple interface, and group chat.

Thanks Gurneet for your support and I’m looking forward to completing phase 1 soon and starting a gaining phase! I still can’t believe the pic on the left was me!! If you’re serious about changing how you look and feel, honestly don’t even think twice and just join!!! I’ll update this review when I hit 12% BF, I'm currently at around 13.

Shift Work Schedule

I'm a shift worker that was struggling to build a solid routine and structure to my workouts. Was generally fit cardio wise but a newbie to weights and SAS helped build a solid foundation to cut pounds of fat and build a base understanding of workouts and muscle and strength gains.

Helped me lean out and get healthier while learning how to build my own routines and meal plans to fit my busy life.

I reccomend the program to anyone that is starting out their journey and wants to learn a solid foundation but also have the flexibility to grow in their journey to getting stronger!

Uni Student Who Struggled for Years

I grew up very skinny with terrible body composition. In high school, I developed manboobs and focused entirely on my academics. My physique became awful, soft, and trim. I tried doing the 5x5 program in high school, followed by other programs on and off in college. I never saw decent progress and was quickly overshadowed by my other friends. This dropped my confidence immensely, and I accepted it as fate.

I found Gurneet through Instagram. Just a few months on Gurneet's program has completely changed my life. I'm no longer insulin resistant and have an excellent Phase 1 lean physique ready for the muscle-building phase. His methods are very beneficial. Coach Jas is also an incredible motivator.

South Asian Strong just works

I was mostly a runner before getting introduced to SAS workouts and while I had done keto before I had a hard time keeping the weight off . Would always gain the weight after stopping keto diet. SAS helped me actually understand the benefits of resistance and weight training and how to tune macros based on activity level and weight goals. I’ve lost about 30 lbs (168 lb to 140lbs) but have gained a ton of muscle. I would highly recommend this program to anyone looking to make a lifestyle change for improving their health and actually feeling great with more energy through the day!

Skeptical at First, but definitely works

I had tried multiple dieting and lifting programs before finding out about South Asian Strong. I was recommended onto it and knew about it for over a year before actually deciding to give it a go. Prior to working with South Asian Strong, it was difficult to maintain a diet consistently for over 10 weeks. I would constantly start out strong until I faded, it was unsustainable.

The trainers at South Asian Strong put in work on developing a meal plan and lifting routine that definitely works. I dropped 15 pounds within the first phase of the program while still getting stronger in the gym.

While going to the gym was never my issue, dieting was always the harder aspect to manage. With the dieting program with South Asian Strong, I am able to eat foods that I was previously not touching. I am able to lose weight while still eating rice, pasta, and other carbs I love.

Was very skeptical at first about the knowledge being shared within the program, but the research and logic is clearly explained. Additionally, I cannot argue with clear cut results when it comes to me dropping body fat percentage, while getting stronger and actually looking forward to my next meal. Instead of eating chicken and rice daily, having the ability to incorporate creative fun meals has had a major improvement on not only my body, but my mental state and positivity as well.

Targeted to my Cultural Diet and Goals!

Before I couldn't motivate myself to stick to a strict diet and would always end up bulking to a point of a disproportionate mid-section vs looking built. Especially as a vegetarian, any diet plans I would look up before would all be around typically "Canadian meat" diets that were not helpful.

The SAS team helped me to address my goals of gaining weight and cutting down to a healthy level where I was satisfied with my muscle growth and physique while also generally feeling much more healthy and having overall better eating habits. The on demand coaching help with both nutrition and training is exceptional and would recommend it to anyone that just needs that extra help to get into the best shape possible!

Its more then just training

Just like everyone i always wanted a fit nice looking body, went to gym here and there but never had that proper guidence.
The founder of south asian strong, i knew him from before he and watching him grow into this business got me intrested in what he has too offer. Too my surprise my workout sessions were designed right according to my needs and goals. Each workout brings you closer too your goal because these guys put alot of study into designing workouts according too your body type/goal. I reccommend this to people who are serious about transforming there life into healthy life style, they alter the program for each person instead of putting multiple people on the same plan. I leaned alot from mt program and reached levels of fitness which were dreams before. I am still working on my self with south asian strong and will stay with them till i reach my ultimate goal of low body fat . Another great thing about the program is they actully monitor your diet on daily basis and let you know if you need to alter it, the app used for the program is no brainer so makes the work easier and exciting. It transformed me!

I signed up for Gurneet’s coaching in 2020. It was peak lockdown in India, and gyms were shut. I had gained a lot of weight being at home. We did home workouts and followed a good diet, and I was able to get insanely lean. I have a skinny fat body, and the coaching was tuned for me to lose belly fat and then eventually bulk and gain muscle.

I regularly track calories now, logging each and every meal. And I’ve become smart enough to guess how many calories a meal would have without even searching it up.
